Compassion - Thailand Church Partnership
A church partnership is when one church family in the developed world and one in the developing world, form a relationship to care, pray and grow in Jesus together. Arana Hills Church of Christ has a partnership with Piang Luang, a small town in north-western Thailand, close to the border with Myanmar. As our sponsorship requests have grown over the years, members from Arana also now sponsor children in other villages in northern Thailand. These villages are ethnically diverse with Chinese, Korean, Thai, Lisu and Lahu people groups represented.
Opportunities For YouIndividuals or families at Arana can choose to sponsor a child in Thailand through Compassion Australia. The local Thai church operates a Child Development Centre in the village, giving children access to formal and non-formal education, health care, nutrition, care, love and an opportunity to hear the gospel. This helps the child’s family provide for their core needs – spiritually, economically, physically, socially and emotionally.
Along with giving financially to their sponsored children, Sponsors at Arana write to and receive letters from their sponsored children, pray for them and may even have the opportunity to travel to Thailand to meet them in person. Travelling on a trip to Thailand with a small number of other Arana members is a fantastic way to further develop your friendship with your sponsored child and their family. During a trip you will also have opportunities to see the broad work Compassion is doing in the country, meet their staff and enjoy some of what this beautiful country has to offer. Sponsorship is more than money – it’s an opportunity to build relationship. To find out more about Compassion visit:
