What are we offering?
Here at Arana we are passionate about ‘Building Big People’ (Brave, Inspired, Generous). We want to help build capacity in people’s character, conduct and competency as they become a truer version of who God created them to be.
In 2021 we are offering voluntary internships for those who are interested in developing their capacity in a leadership and ministry environment. Internships will be offered in the following Arana Ministries:

What is the cost of the Arana Internship?
Costs will vary depending what Internship pathway is chosen.
Academic Pathway – fees will be calculated and processed directly through ACOM (please see website for full details). Arana Hills Church of Christ will contribute $600 to go towards tuition fees.
Non-Academic Pathway – As there are no tuition fees associated with this pathway, Arana Hills Church of Christ will assist in the fees associated with the various resources and required reading texts outlined at the commencement of the Internship.
How do I apply?

In 2021 we are offering voluntary internships for those who are interested in developing their capacity in a leadership and ministry environment. Internships will be offered in the following Arana Ministries:
- Arana Kids
- Arana Youth
- Arana Young Adults
- Arana Creative
- Arana Community
- Academic Pathway
- Course structure and accreditation will take place through our external provider The Australian College of Ministries (ACOM).
- Course options include Diploma of Ministry or Diploma of Christian Studies.
- Both options have pathways to continue studies to a Bachelor accreditation level.

- Non-Academic Pathway
- This pathway is based on practical experience and does include a required reading portion of its structure. This is to further assist in the personal development of our Interns.
- Formal qualifications are not included in this pathway.
Both Internship pathways can expect to gain further experience in the following areas:
- Understanding of how the church functions
- Insight and exposure to all ministry activities
- Experience work in a team environment
- Developed leadership skills in chosen ministry area through practical experience
- Mentoring by leaders and Pastors
- Strengthen biblical and theological foundations
- Strengthened relationship with God
What will be required of you?
- Arana’s Internship is a 12-month commitment from January to December 2021.
- Interns are required to be engaged in practical ministry experience and duties for 14 hours per week. Monday Team meetings are compulsory (please see attached examples of what this could look like).
- Regular commitment and involvement in your chosen ministry area.
- Attend two Arana Team Retreats (dates TBC)
- You will also be required to keep up to date with the study component online through ACOM, or through our non-academic structure. You may choose to do this from your home, or from the Arana office one day a week.
- You will need to supply your own laptop and stationary.
Arana Interns are also required to:
- Abide by the Arana Hills Church of Christ vision & values, as well as the Churches of Christ Queensland Code of Conduct.
- Commit to church-wide and leadership events such as the AGM, A-Team Gatherings, Leadership Meetings, etc.
- Regularly attend church services.
- Be under the supervision of the leadership team at Arana Hills Church of Christ.
- Be actively involved in Arana Group Life.
- Hold a current blue card.
- There may be other specific requirements based on your chosen ministry area. These will be made clear with successful application.
What is the cost of the Arana Internship?
Costs will vary depending what Internship pathway is chosen.

How do I apply?
- The first step is to pray. Ask God for his wisdom and inspiration for you in this opportunity. Make sure this is something you are feeling called to and that this is something you should pursue and can commit to in its entirety.
- Once you believe this is for you, we ask you fill out our application form below by the 30th November 2020.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can apply be an Arana Intern?
Interns must be at least 17 years old and committed to being a regular part of the Arana Hills Church of Christ Church community.
What if I work full time?
The Arana Internship is not suitable to people working full-time. There are plenty of other way to be involved in the various ministries associated in the life our church. Please chat to us in regard to this and we would love to help you find a place to serve in your strength and giftings.
What if I am not available on Monday mornings?
Mondays are an important day for meeting with key team members which includes our weekly Team Meeting. If you cannot attend the Team Meetings on a regular basis then you would be missing crucial elements of the Arana Internship.
What if I want to be an Intern for more than 1 year?
The Intern Program is a 1-year commitment as outlined above. If an Intern would like to continue their Internship for an additional 12-month commitment they are more than welcome to discuss this with their Ministry Area Leader. This would be assessed on a case by case basis.
Is this a paid or voluntary Internship?
This is not a staff position, however there will be financial support given to Interns to help with the cost of the study component of this program. This will be provided by Arana Hills Church of Christ.
